Sister Kristen Mayle and Brother Keith Mayle lead the class discussions. Come and join our wonderful group of young adults as we study the Gospel together and grow. As we met with our Institute Council over the past year, the YSAs on the Council set the theme of “Come as you are.” We strive to create an environment where all feel welcome. Institute is for everyone, especially you! We all have high points and low points, but when we strive together, we succeed together. Listen to what our students have to say about Institute:
Institute offers me something I find to be rare and that’s the open-minded sharing of thoughts and feelings about the scriptures and the focus of study. There has not been a harsh tone over an opinion once. Moreover, I really enjoy the book club style of class we have been doing because it offers much more participation and demands more presence of mind in the class. In a way I feel it gives us what we really need in the gospel which is the study of self and how we can improve our own lives in many ways, including by service to each other. I’m looking forward to learning about the history and to discuss our impressions without fear of getting shut down by strong opinion. I know it may sound silly but it’s the small group at this institute that helps me to believe that church is where I belong and also that I am welcome.
I love institute because it makes me read and learn more! I do not do well with reading my scriptures and I have found I am more motivated to read when I can check something off and talk about it. Getting people’s perspectives on what we read is also helpful when you’re searching for answers.
